The Greenwalt Car Collection is a humble collection located in Darrington, WA. While Fiat was the initial focus and has the largest car count, the collection has become somewhat random with cars from more than a dozen manufactures. The cars are not concourse queens, but drivers. It is common for small groups to stop in and take them for drives on the mountain roads. I am hoping to establish an offering I call The Classic Car Drive, routinely giving people a chance to experience driving these old cars.
We are currently restoring a 100 year old hardware store to be the main showroom. Building codes were very different then v.s. now. The building was virtually suspended and a foundation poured under it. While the building was brought up to current code, we retained the character of the original building, reusing as much of the original material as possible.
At the moment, the collection is private. Check back periodically. The time will come when the building is complete and we establish normal operating procedure.
Other interesting tid bits. I recently learn that my mom’s uncle, Edmund Anderson, was the lead designer for Nash from 1950 to 1961. We have recenly added a Metropolitan to our collection and will be creating a display for Ed Anderson.
